Active Project

Republic of the Congo

National Executing Agency: CIPIVIE- Caritas

The project became effective in July 2021 and over the past year centered its efforts on establishing itself by developing and validating programmatic documents, scoping sites for implementation and the selection of intervention villages, NSC coordination, and raising awareness of the project’s overall objective. Despite its early stage, DGM Congo has made headway in ensuring the inclusion and consideration of women by developing a Gender and People Living with Disabilities Policy for Indigenous and local communities. The project intervention areas include the department of Sangha, department of Likouala, and Plateaux department.

  • In the coming year DGM Congo plans to organize awareness campaigns on the DGM, carry out capacity building, develop awareness tools, finalize programmatic documents, organize NSC meetings, and set-up processes and mechanisms for microprojects.

DGM Congo aims to improve and finance IPLCs’ livelihood activities that provide traditional and sustainable natural resource management, in addition to strengthening their capacity to engage in sustainable natural resources management in the REDD+ processes.

“For us, DGM Congo is a World Bank financing window for Indigenous peoples and local communities that enables there very populations to be responsible for their own future in terms of building their capacities to improve their living conditions and actively participate in decision-making processes that affect them in our country. ”
